F. Ahemate Percolation Test:
Alternate percolation test or other soil test procedwes may be approved by the local
heahh officer or his/her designated representative providing the test results of
alternate procedures meet or exceed those determined using the test procedwe
detailed in this section.
G. Soil Profile:
One (1) soil profile hole shall be drilled or dug to provide observation of the soil
profile of the area of the soil absorption system The hole shall be prepared at least
eight (8) feet deep. The hole may be terminated when groundwater or bedrock is
encourrtered. The hole shall be prepared in such a way as to provide identification of
the soil profile fow (4) feet below the bottom of the sot? absorption system
H. Wafer Table:
In the absence of more restrictive regulations of the local boazd of health, a test hole
evaluation showing a dry condition estimated or measured to be at least fow (4) feet
below the bottom of a proposed soil absorption system during the wettest months
may be considered prima facie evidence that the maximum seasonal groundwater table
will be sufficiently below the bottom of the proposed absorption system.
4,04 Component Design Criteria
A. Desien Features (Generall
Reliabili~:
Individual sewage disposal systems shaII be designed and constructed such
that each component shall function, when mstatled and operated, in a manner
not adversely affected by the household chemicals used. Each component
shall be free ofnon-functional protrusions or sharp edges or other ha2ards,
which could cause injury to persons, animals, or properties. Design shall be
such as to exclude flies and rodents and to prevent the creation of nuisances
and public health hazards and shall provide for efficient operation and
maintenance.
2. P~ Standazds:
Aft wastewater lines used in individual sewage disposal systems shall be
constructed of compatible pipe, bonding agent, and fittings. Where plastic
pipe and &ttings are used, the minimum wall thickness of the pipe shall
conform to ASTM Standard 3034, SD1t35, or equivalent. Perforated
distn~bution pipe surrounded by rock within a soil absorption system shall
have a minimum wall thiclmess conforming to ASTM Standazd 2729.
Comrgated polyethylene pipe with smooth interior that meets ASTM F405
and AASHTO tvI252 specifications or equivalent may also be used.
