The "C" factor for the USLE is calculated from Figure 7, from agronomy note #50 dated
January 1977 as follows: Figure 7 - "C" Factors for Permanent Pasture and Rangeland
The Vegetation Inventory of the Orchard Valley Mine dated 8/6/81 presented in Volume
9A notes on page 5 that the vegetation type where most of the surface facilities of the
OVM now occur is the pinon-juniper type.
The pre-mining condition of the vegetation on the disturbed area will be assumed to be the
values presented in Table 3 of the above reference vegetation inventory, Pinon-Juniper
Reference Area -Cover Data.

The future condition of the vegetation on the reclaimed Bowie No. 1 Mine east facilities
must be estimated based upon the vegetation plan presented in Volume 1. The area will
be seeded with the revegetation seed mixture presented Volume 1, page 70. The
character of the revegetated area will be more of a mountain shrubland than a Juniper
woodland. Therefore, the cover will be dominated more by grasses and shrubs than the
pre-mining vegetative condition.
The cover of the reclaimed area will be assumed to equal 90% of the cover of the
pre-mined area. The litter will be assumed to be equal to the pre-mined area. It will be
assumed the canopy of the reclaimed area will be limited. The estimated vegetative cover
of the reclaimed area will be as follows:
