Simpson, Deputy State EngineerfrLJ
SUBJECT: Indian Creek Mining Company, Proffitt Mine, File No. M-91-054
Sec. 19, T47N, R7E, NMPM
Water Division 3, Water District 26
We have the following comments of the above referenced application
to mine silver and gold, and ore on a 2 acre site in Saguache County.
No details of the mines operation were given, however, the applicant states
that a small bulldozer will be used in the reclamation effort, and seeded
reclaimed areas will depend on natural precipitation for germination. The
operation is located at the headwaters of Indian Creek and has no live stream
running through it. There will be no ore processing at the site. From the
little information presented, it appears as though the only water required
will be for drinking purposes and this water will supposedly be brought in on
a daily basis by the miners.
If the information above is correct then the operation will have no adverse
affect on vested water rights and we have no objection to the proposal.
HDS/JTS:cIf/7019I
cc: Steve Vandiver, Division Engineer
