My family continued to live in this heavily industrial area of California until
my father died of cancer at the young age of 50. To watch someone you
love deteriorate from an unnecessary fatal d;cease is more than heart
breaking. Let's not be distracted by tax dollars in our pockets today, while
tomorrow maybe spent looking at a loved one dying in a hospital bed. I am
someone's daughter, someone's sister, someone's wife. I implore you to go
home tonight and take a good look at your own daughter, wife, mother,
father, sister or bother and ask yourself, is their life worth a few more tax
dollars? In light of September 11, 2001, please see that the truly important
things in life can not be bought.
Please help me to fight for a breath of air by opposing the Rio Grand Cement
Company to be built in southern Pueblo.
A few other considerations are the light pollutants that a factory emits,
another form of air pollution. Consider never being able to look up in the
sky with your child by your side and see a shooting star. Consider washing
your child's face at night and instead of washing dirt from their playing,
washing cement dust and other pollutants from their little face. Consider
sitting in a hospital waiting room while your child lies exhausted in your
arms from trying get their breath, because their lungs where unable to
develop property from breathing particulates from birth. Please don't let the
Rio Grand Cement Company ruin our air, water, health and shorten the lives
of our families.
Sincerely,
i
.~~f
udy Perez OV
