-103-
•
electrofisher was present in Foidel Creek, therefore, a dip net was
employed to capture fish at these stations. Fish captured were
identified, counted, and total length in millimeters determined.
From these data, relative abundance and distribution were obtained.
Due to the generally small number captured of each species, a
meaningful length frequency analysis could not be accomplished.
Food web relationships were determined primarily from the literature.
2.2.2.2 Results
Fish Creek - During the study period Fish Creek was a
meandering stream averaging 3.5 meters in width at the upstreaa
sampling station, and widening to an average of 4.8 meters directly
above its confluence with Trout Creek. Substrate at the upper
station consisted primarily of rubble and gravel, with some silt
present in pools and slow-water areas. Substrate at the middle
station on Fish Creek consisted mostly of gravel, but sand and
silt were present. Lower Fish Creek had some gravel present in
riffle areas, but sand, silt, and clay predominated. Gravel areas
were heavily-silted in this area of the stress. :lacrophytes were
not abundant is this creek (Table 27) and the only species collected
was pondweed (Potamo¢eton sp).
A checklist of the benthic macro invertebrate taxa identified
in ccllectians from Fish Creek is presented in Tab'_e 28; the number
counted of each taxa is also given by station. These data are
summarized and the calculated diversity at each station is given
