This azea is within the Grand Mesa-West Elk Soil Survey Area,
which is part of the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It was mapped by the NRCS in the mid to
late 1980's. The soil units identified within this azea aze:
Unit # 130-Cryocrepts-Cryoborolls-Rubble land Complex, I5-90% Slopes
Unit # 153-Haploborolls-Ustochrepts-Rockoutcrop Complex, 40-99% Slopes
These units are on steep canyon side slopes, with a cold climate (<90 days growing season).
They contain azeas of rock out crop, and rubble land scattered through out each unit.
Based on my review of this data, along with review of the criteria Colorado uses to define
important and prime farmland, I found that the landform and soils chazacteristics aze such that
there would be no prime farmland within the West Flatiron lease Area.
Sincerer i 1
TERRY J.
