' •
Table 14-1 Notes:
Permanent Flood Control Dike -Volumes and area taken from TR-02 proposed design. Material borrowed from an sand/gravel bar in
the Colorado River.
South Lease Exploration -Volumes assumed using 1 ' of topsoil salvaged and replaced on all roads and pads disturbed. Actual
volumes unknown. Areas taken from TR-04 and MR-10 design for the project.
North Decline -Volumes taken from calculations for contractor payment. Areas were taken from measurements on topo maps.
Roadside South Portals -Areas were measured on digital maps. SurvCADD was used to calculate the cut and fill volumes with the
use of digital maps of existing and post mining topography. See Exhibit 6C for Post Mining Topography. The volume of refuse
required to excavate to create the two IS-foot wide benches is included in the volume calculation. The RSRDA borrow volume
includes dirt currently on the pile that wilt be moved to allow instal{ation of benches on the upper part of the pile. The RSRDA cover
fill volume represents the 18" overburden cover on [he remaining 9.6 acres of the pile. The RSRDA topsoil volume represents the
amount of topsoil to be salvaged and replaced in the borrow area.
Overland Conveyor and Railroad Spur - The cu[ and fill volume and area were taken from 1982 reclamation estimates and include
grading out the road and track bed as well as filling the holes at the transfers. The topsoil estimate represents the volume of the
existing stockpile. This volume will cover a 2400' stretch of the road and railroad 80' wide with 6" of topsoil and 4000' of conveyor
40' wide with 6" of topsoil.
Unit Train L.oadout -The areas were measured on topo maps. The volumes were calculated using 'average end areas' on cross section
on 100' centers. See Exhibit 59 for the cross sections and the approximate cut and fill areas of each.
Roadside North Portal -The areas were measured on topo maps. SurvCADD was used to calculate the cut and fill volumes with the
use of digital maps of existing and post mining topography. See Exhibit 8C for Pos[ Mining Topography. The topsoil volume was
calculated assuming 6" over the measured area.
CRDA I and 2 -The 1994 cut volume represents material salvaged from Pond 6 and adjacent to Topsoil pile 6. The 1994 fill volume
and topsoil volumes were not accurately measured but were calculated as the minimum volume required assuming 12" of overburden
for CRDA 1, 18" of overburden for CRDA 2 and 6" of topsoil. Actual volumes were greater as indicated by the larger volumes of
topsoil and borrow material measured during the same project.
CRDA I -The remaining fill and topsoil are calculated for the remaining areas to be covered. Areas were measured on a digital map.
Actual area to be covered with overburden is IS acres. The pond associated with CRDA No. 1 represents 1.4 acres to be covered with
six inches of topsoil.
Page 2 of 3 2/01
