STATE OF COLORADO aIC M4eD D. LAl1~-Gaver~or
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
Harris D. Sherman. Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMATION
615 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. 1303) 892-3567
GILBERT F. RINDAHL, P.E.
DIRECTOR
M E M O R A N D U M
T0: Jan Jory and File
FROM: Bob Campbell ~C C
RE: Denver Fire Clay Application (our file ~~HR76-7)
DATE: February 14, 1977
iii iiiiiiiiiiiu iii
999
Mr. William Brandt was in our office on February 8, 1977 to discuss the above
application and address the items in the January 12, 1977 letter to Mr. Toy
Ledbetter,
In regard to the county confirmation Mr, Brandt was told by the county people
that they had not addressed the zoning issue regarding clay pits and could not
give him a letter, but that they would abide by whatever the state wants. I
suggested that he request the county to write us a letter to this effect.
We discussed the possibility of wildlife cover for the plan of reclamation
since the benches are not suitable for range, agriculture, residential de-
velopment, etc.
We went over the subsections of 116 to be sure that he would address every
item. I suggested putting the hard snadstone layer that they will be removing,
into any depressed areas, I also suggested sloping the benches slightly down-
ward to the highwall such as one inch vertical to every two feet horizontal to
enable some retainment of precipitation.
Mr. Brandt is making the changes necessary to reflect a limited impact operation.
