7 <br />• seven or eight miles north of its confluence m+i[h the Norti~ Fork. The <br />Gulch is generally quite narrow and is seldom more than to-+o hundred feet <br />wide. At its extreme northern end the Gulch does evidence a slighCly <br />larger Valley which is noo-+ the site of the Morrell family co~.v camp just <br />south of [hc West Fork of Terror Creek. This area has been termed Morrell <br />Park and is designated 5 DT 88. The survey methodology a+ill be discussed <br />in detail in the last section of this report. <br />Survey Me[liodology <br />• <br />Varying methods ~~+ere relied upon in cor.~pleting the survey of the <br />Colorado Westmoreland Impact Area. Some portions of the study area re- <br />ceived intensive on-ground study ~:~liile others were only examined if local <br />informants indicated the presence of sites. The survey team s+as fortunate <br />to have lead the cooperation of several individuals who have lived and <br />worked on the various tracts and r+ho are, therefore, personally familiar <br />with virtually every possible site location. Such informants ranged from <br />fruit ranchers in the valley through Colorado blestmoreland's surveyor and <br />surface superintendent [o ranchers such as Johri Morrell who ~+orked cattle <br />in nearly all parts of Impact Area A for more than $0 years. Whenever such <br />informants indicated the possible existence of a site, the location was <br />checked out. Additionally, any potential site location was checked, even <br />if no one suggested it as a possibility. <br />Although John and Laura Morrell informed the survey team of all sites <br />• <br />in the area, the four sections of Iropac[ Area A :ere still given selected <br />yet intensive on-ground scrutiny.
