Draft: March 31, 1999 Page 22
6.8.3 Process Monitoring
' Ifchanges in physical pazameters at the production stream indicate a formation failure, cavity
breach, or production well breach. The BLM and EPA will be notified within 48 hours and the
' following procedures will be initiated.
1. The well pressure, temperature and flow rate instrumentation will be checked for
t accuracy.
2. The well valves will be checked for possible leakage.
' 3. Injection into the solution mining well will be discontinued and the density of the
fluids in the well will be balanced.
' 4. All tubing, strings, and annulaz areas between well strings will be pressure tested
with nitrogen gas to hydrostatic pressure to ensure the mechanical integrity of the
tubing.
5. A temperature log will be performed to determine if there is any significant
' temperature change above the nahcolite-bearing zone.
' 6. The results from these procedures will be evaluated to determine the best solution for
corsecting the problem. The use of additional logging techniques may be reugired
' to accurately pinpoint any mechanical failures.
7. BLM and EPA will be notified of the results of the evaluation and the proposed
corsective actions to be taken.
i
1
1
1
1
1

Agapito Associates, Inc.
