The
lJyomin(*, bigsage makes up approximately 45 ", of the vet-et;at i v.:•
cover where it dominates. In these areas the brasses make up
approximately 30 percent of the cover and are: Irfdian ricegrasr,,
4lutton }.*.rass, Bottlebrush squirltail, and Caletta. There are
areas ~~rhere surface disturbance has occured (o 1d a.irsl:rip and
vehicle traffice) and there is evidence of reseeding. Here the
plant community is approximately 80 percent grass: Crested whc°a t.frrass,
and those which appeared on the previously mentioned siT,e.
Snakeweed, green rabbitbrush and Wyoming bigsabe accure here and
• make up approximately 15 9 of the plant community.
Soils:
A copy of the soil map is attached as are the narrative descriptions.
IJote that, on the soil map is shown the location of existinb bravel
mine operations on the same soils. the soils are Radersburb and Callan.
Rever~et.ation:
'T'opsoil will vary in depth. In some areas it will be difficult, to
save due to shallowness to gravel. In other areas it will he t.liic}r
enough to save - in fact can be 5 feet or more deep. Where possible,
topsoil should be saved by stockpiling. 'Phese piles should be
seeded during early winter (after October 15) to 1<aep the soil in l~lacc
until used for reseeding. Seed with 4lestern wheatp.rass using; the
rate of 16 pound of Pure Live Seed per acre. Seed companies can
figure bulk seed required to get the PLS recommended rare. l•Jhen
reclaiming, the area should first be rough leveled Y,o natural bride;
topsoil then spread over the area at a depth of 4 to 6 inche:~;
seeding is the final step.
