Upon notification from the Corps of Engineers that work <br />being performed does not comply with or fall within the .scope of <br />this permit, the responsible party shall take immediate steps, as <br />directed by the Corps of Engineers, to bring the work into <br />compliance with this permit. <br />2. Unless otherwise authorized by the Corps of Engineers, <br />material may sot be placed in, or excavated from, wetlands or in <br />any location or manner which will impair surface water flow into <br />or out of any wetlands. Wetlands are areas that are inundated or <br />saturated by surface or ground water at a frequency and duration <br />sufficient to support, and under normal circumstances do support, <br />a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in <br />saturated soil conditions. Wetlands generally include swamps, <br />marshes, bogs, wet meadows, willow/alder thickets, and similaz <br />areas. This permit does not authorize activities associated with <br />channelization, ditching, mechanized land clearing, cutting off <br />of meanders or blocking off channels. You should avoid damage to <br />existing bank stabilization work and avoid causing any unstable <br />effects on the stream channel. An activity may not cause more <br />than a minimal adverse affect on navigation. <br />4. The Colorado Department of Health has certified the <br />activities authorized by this permit under Section 401 of the <br />Clean Water Act. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) <br />must individually certify the activities on Indian lands <br />authorized by this permit. Environmental Protection Agency, <br />Region VIII, 999 18th Street, Suite 500, Denver, Colorado 80202- <br />2466.
