<br /> <br /> <br />EXHIBIT D - WILDLIFE, WATER, VEGETATION and SOILS <br />Lake City Mines, Inc. - Golden Wonder Mine <br />March 10, 1978 <br />WILDLIFE <br />Mule deer and elk, occasional Black bear, Mourning dove, <br />Cottontail rabbit, Rock squirrel, Ground squirrel, Crow, Magpie <br />and Jays most of the year. No known seasonal use. All necessary <br />wildlife information has been fuz~nished to the Colorado Division <br />of Wildlife (see attached letter, March 6, 1y78) and a wildlife <br />statement will be furnished upon receipt. <br />WATER <br />No surface water on site and no underground water expected <br />to be encountered in the mine. The very small amount of water which <br />will be required for dust control and drill operation will be haul- <br />ed in by drums in a truck. <br />VEGETATION <br />Primarily a spruce-fir zone with very light cover of trees, <br />less than sf, in the area to be disturbed, although considerably <br />heavier tree cover exists in the immediate vicinity and will not be <br />disturbed. Trees in the general area include Ergleman Spruce, Dcug- <br />las b'ir, Aspen and some oakbrush. Grass cover is in the range of 60- <br />80) and consists primarily of Thurbers Fescue and Mountain Brome. <br />SOILS <br />Classified by USDA as gray wooded-brown podzolic mountain <br />prairie group, moderately deep, coarse to moderately fide texture <br />with high percentage of large angular pieces of parent rock, neutral <br />to acid. L~7ater and Related Land Resources, Gunnison River Basin - <br />Colorado, 1962, Colorado Water Conservation Board and U.S. Depart- <br />ment of Agriculture. <br />Appropriate portions of this application have been sent to the Soil <br />Conservation Service for comment (see attached letter, March 10, 1978). <br />EX3IIBIT .D <br />
