<br />EXIIIBII' D SF~ <br />~Invnvc PLav <br />1 <br />DELTA Pati"IlHG GRAVEL PIT <br />'The proposed eravel pi[ is located approximately one-quaver mile east of State Highway 6~ on the <br />' south side of the Ciwuuson River in Delta County. Sze Exhibit B. A portion of the propem was <br />prevtsouly under Permit No. 78-62a by Hallenbeck Construction C'o. This permit has been <br />terminated. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br /> <br />1 <br />The total affected area contains 31.E acres. 'ihe area will be mined in phases ranging in size from <br />3.3 to I6.3 acres. The affected area is divided in[o the following three areas: <br />Mituna <br />P.cres <br />Processiue Site--------------------------llt,(, Acres <br />Haul Road--------------------------------- 1.6 Acres <br />Mining will start on the north side of Phase I and proceed to the south. See Exhibit C. Two Phases <br />may be disturbed at one time. Phase II can only he mined when the flow in the ditch is reduced in <br />the winter and it can be forded. Phase N area contains several small wetlands which may or may <br />not be mined depending on the wetlands policy at the time mining would take place. <br />Mutine witl be done using trout end loaders. hydraulic excavators, dozers and trucks. The mining <br />operation consists of 1) stripping, 2) dewatering and 3) mining the sand and gravel deposit. <br />1). The topsoil :utd overburden which overlays the sand and gravel deposit is stripped using <br />dozers, loaders and trucks. The material will be stockpiled around the perimeter of the pit <br />for later use in backfilling of the previously mined azea. "fhe top 4 to 6 inches of topsoil <br />will be stockpiled separately tiom the overburden for later use in the reclamation of the area. <br />1 2). Z'he azea stripped is next trenched using a hydraulic excavator. A pump is placed in the <br />trench to dewater the excavation. The ground water will be pumped to a drain ditch or <br />' directly to the Gunnison Rover. <br />3). The sand and gravel deposit will be mined using a front end loader. The material will ei[her <br />he feed directly into a cntsher or loaded into trucks and stockpiled. AHer all the sand and <br />gravel hzs been mined from an area, the sides of the pit will be sloped using a dozer. <br />' The processing site will be used for cntshing and washing the pit tun gravel into specification <br />aggreeate for road base. and the production of asphalt pavement and ready mix concrete. <br />' Mining will star[ in the summer of 1999 after all required permits have been obtained. A Phase will <br />last from one to four years. This time period is variable; dependntg on mazket conditions at the <br /> <br />
