Light-Use Roads
General Requirements
wGTI will design, construct or reconstruct, utilize, and maintain light-use roads to
control or minimize erosion end siltation, air and water pollution, and damage to public
or private property.
To the extent possible using the best technology currently available, light-use roads will
not cause damage to fish, wildlife, and related environmental values end will not cause
additional contributions of suspended solids to streamf low or to runoff outside the permit
area. Any such contributions will not be in excess of limitations of State or Federal
law.
To the extent that the anticipated volume or weight or speed of vehicles to be used
requires higher standards than those set forth in 4.03.3, such higher standards will be
incorporated in the design, construction, and reconstruction or maintenance of light-use
roads.
h
All light-use roads will be completely removed and the land effected regraded to t
e
approximate original contour and revegetated in accordance with the requirements of
4.03.3(7) except where 4.03.3(2)(e) will apply.
Location
Light-use roads will be located on ridges or on the most stable available slopes to
minimize erosion. No pert of any light-use road will be located in the channel of an
ephemeral stream where the upstream watershed is at least one square mile, intermittent
or perennial scream unless specifically approved by the Division.
Stream fords of an ephemeral stream where the upstream watershed is at least one square
mile, intermittent or perennial streams are prohibited unless they are approved by the
Division and will not adversely effect stream sedimentation or fish, wildlife, and related
environmental values. All other stream crossings will be made using bridges, culverts,
or other structures designed, constructed, end maintained to meet the requirements of
4.03.3(4).
• Light use roads will be located [o minimize down-stream sedimentation and flooding.
15
