- recent expansion `hat pit to include two more adjacent on`
no valid information on property flooding
no valid information on ground water interruption
more detailed plan for reclamation to create a useable (for animal habitat) pond
distinct time line for completion of mining operation (no "temporary cessation" permits)
shorter than the 5 year time line for completion of reclamation
"reasonable" funding for reclamation (landscape designer has suggested $250, 000.00 for an
18 acre pond area)
In conclusion, during the initial meetings with the county commissioners, suggestions were given as fo
other properties that this landowner has, on the river, which could be mined without mining in a "residential"
and agricultural area. Those of us who chose to build here did so with the beauty, peace, quiet and wildlife in
mind. To face a potential of 15 years of noise, air pollution and added gravel truck traffic to our "retirement"
years (which are all too short to begin with!) is a devastating thought!! Especially added to the existing pit only
one mile south, and the fact that the owner has other properties that could be mined without interfering with so
many families daily lives.
Additionally, l would like to be notified of any further action concerning this permit. Since it is "right
next door",1 feel we are entitled to know just what action maybe taking place. As you can imagine, we're not
on the friendliest terms with the landowner. I doubt that he would be interested in informing us of any changes
that might be taking place.
Sincerely,
Pete & Cheri Robinson
PO Box 85
Dolores CO 81323
970-882-4399
cc: Colorado Dept. of Minerals & Geology
Colorado Water Conservation Board
Division of Water Resources
Colorado Soil Conservation Board
Water Quality Control Commission
Air Quality Control Division
US Army Corps of Engineers
