DELTA SOII~ONSERVATION DISTRICT
EXHIBIT ~-
DELTA, COLORADO 81416
690 Industrial Park
May 9, 1978
Delta County Commissioners
Delta County Court House
Delta Colorado 81416
Dear Sirs:
Re: Mined Land Reclamation Permit
Pil. Name -Antelope Hill Gravel Pit
Location, Legal -Part of NW's NE 4, Sect. 30, T14S, R94W, 6th P.M.
Si::e - 15.75 acres of a 40 acre tract.
Arc:a lies -Approximately 2 miles North of Austin, Colo.
Previous Use - Rangeland and a gravel pit.
Previous Plants - Galleta, Cactii, Shadscale and Ha loge ten.
Soils -Predominantly 51-E, Utaline stony loam, 3 to 20% slope. 0-4': of stony
loam over very cobbly loam.
gravel greater then 1'~" - 30 to 40 %.
Gravel depth - 18 to 26 ft.
Soil Under Gravel - Shale
Water table -None
Flood plain -None
Re~vegetation: On the designated 15.75 acres.
To re-vegetate the site after mining is completed the base should
be returned to as near level as is practical or not to exceed 3:1
slope. Top soil should be spread at least 6 inches deep and
smoothed over the area.
The site will not be irrigated so dryland species of grasses should
be used for site re-seeding.
The following mixture is recommended per acre.
30% Yellow Sweet clover X 3.5 = 1.0 lb. PLS
50% Western Wheatgrass X 8.0 = 4.0 lbs. PLS
20% Crested Wheatgrass X 5.0 = 1.0 lb. PLS
Total 6.0 lbs. PLS
PLS =Pure Live Seed.
A late fall seeding date is usually better for native species so the
seed lays dormant over winter and has early spring moisture for
germination and establishment.
If you have any questions concerning this report, please contact us.
Sincerely,
~~~ Z~L~~
Pall Willis, Pice-President
Delta Soil Conservation District
cc: L.
