NOV-13-2003 11:36 FROIrt-DOL NATURAL RESOURCES 3038663556 T-814 P.003/006 F-364
Page 2
Witnesses
DMG staff assigned to testify on these issues: Bruce Humphries, Harry Posey, Allen
Sorenson, and Wally Erickson.
Summary of testimony for Harry Posey: Mining methods, being standard for this type
operation, have no chance to cause ambient receiving stream water quality conditions
to change as a result of mining, reclamation or flooding. Mercury released from
upstream mines and deposited at the Line Camp site by flooding would be minor and
would be controlled by the flood limits and sediment deposition during floods- Mercury,
a heavy liquid, would tend to drop from suspension in sediments ponds at the Line
Camp pit.
Summar of testimony for Allen Sorenson: Mining and reclamation of the Line Camp Pit
will not increase hazards or cause off site damage during flooding of magnitudes up to
and including the one percent annual chance (100-year) flood event.
Summary of testimony for Bruce Humahries and Wally Erickson: The application for the
Line Camp Pit demonstrates compliance with the minimum requirements of the
Construction Materials Act and Rules and with MLRB policies.
Exhibits:
• This exhibit list incorporates by reference all exhibits listed either by the Operator
andlor the Objectors.
• DMG public file for the Line Camp Pit, Permit No. M-2001-001.
• Staff presentation farm tc introduce and summarize the application review
process.
• Air photos of the Dolores River valley, taken by DMG staff an June 25, 2003.
All referenced materials cited in the text and in the reference list of pr.
