14. On the Reclamation Plan Map #4 the south pit has a bottom elevation of 6630'. This elevation
appears to be the same elevation noted on the pre-mining map in the same location. How is
this possible if the area is to be mined of gravel ranging from 13' to 48' thick? As noted above,
it is difficult to read the contour intervals and elevation due to the map size. Please clarify this
discrepancy.
15. The operator stated that a reclamation cost estimate was not provided because an independent
estimate vvill be conducted by the Division. The Division will need some additional
information in order to calculate the required bond amount. Please provide all information
necessary to calculate the cost of reclamation broken down into various major phases of
reclamation. For example, the equipment used for reclamation, the maximum disturbed area at
any given time, the volume of material to reclaim the pit and the road, the volume of topsoil to
replace during each phase, and the haul distance and slope in each phase. Wetland reclamation
detail will also need to be provided.
16. The operator did not provide a seed mix and application rate for the two proposed wetlands.
Please include this in the application package.
17. Will any fuel tanks be located on the site?. If so, please state what spill prevention measures
will be used for fuel tanks. If fuel tanks aze to be placed inside an enclosure, the cost for
demolition and disposal must be included.
Please be advised that the Tellier Gravel Pit application may be deemed inadequate, and your
application may be denied on October 27, 1998 unless the above mentioned adequacy review items aze
addressed to the satisfaction of the Division. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sin ely,
~~
Erica S.
