2.0 GROUND-WATER LEVELS
Water levels or water pressure have been measured in 39 wells at Trapper Mine. Wells
GD-2, GF-I, GF-3, GP-3, GP-4, and well 81-03a are flowing wells and pressure readings on these
wells have been converted to static water head in feet above land surface. Well GD-I(2) is not
measured for water level because a pump is installed in this well. Monitoring wells GD-3, GF-11,
and GLUX-] were installed in 1988 and well GMP-I was installed in ] 990. Well GA-2 went dry
between the second and third quarters of 1994 and remained dry throughout 1995.
The locations of these monitoring wells aze shown on enclosed Maps No. 2-1 through 2-3.
Wells GD-1(2) and GF-1 are completed in the Twenty Mile Sandstone, while well GF-2 is
completed below the R coal in the U aquifer system. Seven wells, GA-I, GE-I, GD-2, GF-6, GP-1,
GP-5, and GP-6 are used to monitor the QR aquifer. Wells GD-3 and GF-11 are completed in
• baclcfill derived from the QR aquifer and, therefore, are also used to monitor the QR aquifer. Wells
GA-2, GB-1, GF 3, GP-2, GP-4, and GP-8 aze used to monitor the KLM aquifer. Seven wells, GB-5,
GC-1, GE-2, GF-4, GP-3, GP-7, and GMP-1 are used to observe changes in the HI aquifer. Wells
GF-5 and GF-7 are completed in bacldill material derived from the HI aquifer and are also used to
monitor the HI aquifer. Wells GB-2, GC-2, GE-3, P-8, 81-03a, and GP-9 are used to monitor the
3rd White Sandstone aquifer. Welt GE-3 is completed in both the 2nd and 3rd white sandstone and
well P-5 are completed in the 2nd White Sandstone between the G and F coals, while GLUX-1 is
used to monitor the First White Sandstone. Well P-3 is perforated in the Lewis Shale. Four alluvial
wells, GC-3, P-1, J-1, and COY are used to monitor the Flume, Pyeatt, and Johnson alluviums.
Wells GA-1 (QR aquifer) and GA-2 (KLM aquifer) will be removed beginning in 1996 due to the
D pit mitring. The backfill aquifer in this azea is monitored in GD-3 and GF-1 I and indicates similar
2-1
