Cut slopes should be <br />scarified a minimum of three inches deep prior to placement of soil material. <br />4) Cover Crop: After topsoil is spread it should be seeded with a first year cover crop of hybrid <br />forege sorghum that will not reproduce. This needs to be seeded before July 1 with a seeding rate <br />of 15 pounds of seed per acre in 6" to 12" spacing. (Mid to late May seeding is rernmmended.) <br />The aop can be cut to leave 8 to 12 inch stubble or left to stand. <br />5) Fertilizer. Soil test should be made prior to seeding and applied as needed. <br />~ Seeding: Grass seeding should be done between November 1 and May 1. Seeding should not be <br />done when the ground is frozen. Seeding should be the second year into the cover crop . The <br />followitlE is a suggested seed mix: <br />At least 75% Switch Grass, the balance a a»xture of Blue Grama, Side Oats Gretna, and western <br />Wheat.
