• 3. The active et rip mined pit has had minimal pit pumping, therefore we are anticipating
very small quantities of additional discharge caused by the auger operations. Any
necessary pit dewatering activities will follow the procedures described in Tab 13 on
page 6 in paragraph 1.
4. The premising ground water flow should reestablish itself following backf filling of the
final pit areas which have been augered.
Surface Watet
Surface water quantity and quality should not be affected by the auger mining operation
since drainage will be handled in the same manner as existing final highwall stripping
conditions. The poatmining reclaimed surface will be blended with the surrounding spoils
and topography. The surface will be revegetated in accordance with the approved
revegetation plan. Should subsidence occur, surface drainage will not be adversely affected
as no poatmining drainages will course over the proposed auger mining areas.
Ownership
The surface and coal is owned by different entities but SCC holds coal leases on.those areas
• proposed to be augered. Refer to Exhibit 3-1 in Tab 3 of the permit application package for
any details.
Operation Plan
SCC is proposing to auger the wadge coal seam as shown on Exhibit 12-1, Sheet 2 of 2.
Angering at Yoast will start at bottom of the neck pit area final highwall and progress to
the south. As stated earlier, SCC will auger the entire length of the final highwall. The
equipment to be utilized for the auger mining operation will be:
1. Brydet Model 2348-72 Coal Recovery Auger
2. Brydet Model B-775 Crawler Mounted Elevating Conveyor
3. Caterpillar 988 Wheel Front-End Loader
Auger Mining Plan
1. The area will be surface mined according to the approved, existing mine plans.
2. After overburden and coal removal is completed, some highwalls and endwalls will be
auger mined, see Exhibit 12-1, Sheet 2 of 2. It should be noted that the area as shown
on Exhibit 12-1, Sheet 2 of 2, is the projected final highwall location, and angering
• areas will vary based on the exact final highwall locations and associated mining
conditions.
12-1-3 Revised O1/O1
