13
• The artifacts from the prehistoric occupation of the site include chipped stone debitage,
chipped stone tools, ground stone, and ceramics. The debitage will be analyzed to determine place
in the reduction sequence and raw material type. Tools will be analyzed for technological as well
as functional traits, including method of manufacture, biface stage, edge weaz and edge angle.
Ground stone will be similazly analyzed. Projectile points and ceramics will be compazed to known
types for cultural association and chronological information.
The historic artifact assemblage will be subjected to an analysis designed to derive
functional, economic, social, ethnic, technological and chronological information. These will then
be compazed and contrasted within the context of the site's spatial organization. The historic artifact
assemblage is expected to be the primary source of information for investigating the reseazch issues
at the site. It will, within the frameworks established by the chain of title, and through association
with the various features and occupations of the site, provide a good window on a wide range of
issues related to the reseazch design.
Finally, the results of investigations at SLA7186 can be integrated into the known culture
history of the region, contributing to an understanding of dte historic interaction between Native
Americans, Hispanic New Mexicans, and anglo Americans.
References Cited
• McKibbin, Anne, and Richard F.
