• Additional Study on Alluvial Valley Floore_
An independent report was prepared in 1982 by ERO Resources Corporation on the
possible existence of an alluvial valley floor in Red Wash drainage. The report
entitled "Red Waeh Drainage Basin -Alluvial Valley Floor Study" is available
through the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division and through Western
Fuels-Utah, Inc.. Summary and Conclusions of Lhe 150 page report are presented
below.
Summary and Conclusions
Red Wash Basin has been described in detail Lo evaluated the existence of an
alluvial valley floor. No part oP the Red Wash drainage can be classified as an
alluvial valley floor in the regulatory eense (2.06.8(3)(b), Regulations of CMLRD
Por Cosl Mining, 1981). Although Red Wash has s narrow strip of unconsolidated
etreamlaid deposits along Lhe main stem, there are not sufficient suitable land or
• water resources to support agricultural activities. There is no historic use of
the area for irrigation. The area is not potentially irrigable based on low water
yield, poor water quality, unsuitable soils and rough topography. The small strip
of vegetation enhanced by natural flood or subirrigation ie along the lower
channel and is not significant to the carrying capacity of the grazing allotments
in the area.
•
(rev. 1 /86) I I.
