This deep, well <br />drained soil is on alluvial fans, plateaus, and benches. <br />Typically, the surface layer is dark grayish brown loam 24 inches <br />thick. The upper 24 inches of the subsoil is brown clay loam, <br />The lower part to a depth of 60 inches or more is yellowish brown <br />clay loam. Permeability of this Foidel soil is moderately slow. <br />Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Available water <br />capacity is high. Runoff is slow, and the hazard of water <br />erosion is slight. <br />The proposed gravel pit site is dominated by pasture grass <br />species that included western wheatgrass, streambank wheatgrass, <br />smooth brome and Kentucky bluegrass. Forbs found on the site were <br />yarrow, lupine, whitetop, Canada thistle and hounds tongue. The <br />site produces approximately 15001bs/ac. of forage per acre. <br />A concern of the large amount of whitetop present could be spend <br />with the gravel if the whitetop is not controlled before gravel <br />mining begins. <br />R$CLAMATION PLAN <br />Before mining of gravel starts, the top 12 inches of topsoil <br />should be stripped, stockpiled, and seeded with 20 lbs/ac of <br />Pubescent Wheatgrass (Luna Variety) for future use. <br />The disturbed area should <br />than 3:1.
