Ernironmental Conditioners Inc

208 N.E.63rtl Sreet
Vancouver, ~vasn~ngion 98665
Pone 705~696~aA66 ~-- ~---~-~
Tel9 c:360608
Poniantl Pnone:503220-629t
HONEY EXTENDED AERATION S=~9AioE PLAATT
OPERATIONAL DESCP,IPTION

The ECI Honey Plant is a biological treatment system for biode-
,. gradable wastes using the extended aeration modification of the
activated sludge process. This process combines the features
of complete treatment with low sludge production. ECI uses the
novel technique of turbine mixing plus sparge diffuser aeration,
which give significantly higher or.}rgen transfer rates than pro-
; vided by diffused aeration systems. This aaproach allows higher
• volumetric BOD loadings and smaller aerator volume. It also
~; gives independent control of aerator mixinc and aeration which
~ provides accurate control of aeration over varying waste load
1.
conditions without sacrificing good mixinc. Cost savings are
r-
~. realized through lower air costs, smaller blower sizes and smaller
~-- aerator size.
L
L The system shown is designed to handle the specified design flow
of sewage. Sewage enters the system by first passing through a
bar screen and optional comminutor to reduce the size of incoming
~ solids. It then falls into the flow ecualization basin where a
II diffused air system mixes and aerates the sewage. This tank ab-
it . sorbs and evens out hourly peaks of flow, resulting in a constant
~. flow rate through the plant. Dual transfer pumps discharge at a
S =.:~
~- constant rate into the aeration basin.
