s
BUSBY VARIANT
The Busby Variant consists of moderately deep well drained soils
formed in residuum and from colluvium derived from sandstone. They
occur on ridgetops and bedrock-controlled benches and have slopes of
0 to 49 percent.
Busby Variant soils are similar to Cushool Variant soils. Cushool
Variant soils have argillic horizons and fine control section textures.
Busby Variant soils are also mapped near Coberly Variant, Rentsac
Variant, Rentsac moderately deep Variant, Savage and the coarse-loamy,
mixed Aridic Haploborolls of map unit 41.
Busby Variant soils are classified as coarse-loamy, mixed Borollic
. Camborthids.
This soil is a variant because it is shallower than the acceptable
depth range for the Busby Series.
Typical pedon of Busby Variant fine sandy loam, 11 percent slope
is located within 408,000N, 1,418,000E and 411,000N, 1,422,000E.
Al--0 to 9 inches; brawn (lOYR 5/3) fine sandy loam, dark brown
(lOYR 4/3) moist; weak fine granular structure; slightly hard, firm,
nonsticky, nonplastic; neutral; clear smooth boundary.
B2--9 to 15 inches; dark brown (lOYR 4/3) very fine sandy loam,
dark brown (lOYR 4/3) moist; weak fine granular structure; slightly
hard, firm, nonsticky, nonplastic; few thin clay films bridging sand

2-193
