They occur in stream bottoms
and on alluvial floodplains of major drainages and have slopes of 0 to 9
percent.
The Brycan series is not similar to any other soils in the mapping
area. These soils occur near Savage, Rentsac Variant and the coarse-
loamy, mixed Aridic Haploborolls of map unit 41.
Soils of the Brycan series are fine-loamy, mixed Cumulic
Haploborolls.
Typical pedon of Brycan clay loam, 2 percent slope, is located
. within 408,000N; 1,418,000E and 411,OOON, 1,422,070E.
All -- 0 to 10 inches; dark grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) clay loam,
very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; moderate medium granular
structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; many
fine roots; neutral; abrupt smooth boundary.
IIA12 - 10 to 17 inches; dark grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) clay loam,
very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; slightly hard, friable,
slightly sticky, slightly plastic; common fine and few medium roots;
mildly alkaline; abrupt smooth boundary.
IIIC1 -- 17 to 47 inches; brown (lOYR 4/3) clay loam, very dark
grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; massive structure; slightly hard, fri-
able, slightly sticky, slightly plastic; few fine and medium roots,
mildly alkaline; gradual smooth boundary.
2-191
