EXHIBIT D
Section 4 -Nature of Deposits and Overburden
The deposits of resource consist of sand, gravel and cobbles in a layer an average of 14
feet wide, located on average about 4 feet below ground surface. Overburden consists of
topsoil, sandy silty clay, sandy silt and silty sand. Bedrock is a siltstone-claystone
located 17 to 21 feet below the surface. The upper'/~ to 1 foot of bedrock is weathered.
Work will proceed in two phases removing a total of approximately 1,400,000 tons of
sand and gravel. This will be done at a rate of between 200,000 and 800,000 tons per
year, resulting in a time span of 3-7 years for completion of mining and reclamation.
Primary commodities to be removed from the site are sand and gravel products. These
products will be used as base material, aggregate for Portland cement concrete and
aggregate for bituminous asphalt. No secondary commodities are expected, however,
overburden materials in excess of those necessary for proper reclamation may be
exported and/or made available for public and private sale.
