GA1. These variations are well within the natural range of
fluctuation.
Water from well GB2 has generally been near or slightly below
7 with 1993 values of 6.4 and 6.7. The pH values from well GB5
have been above 7. The pH values for well GB5 have been higher
than normal since June of 1984. The pumped samples for the third
quarter of 1992 and 1993 were significantly below the remainder of
the samples and may be approaching the aquifer pH. This indicates
that the well bore is influencing the pH of the ground water in
this well. Some cement contamination is likely.
The field pH of eater from the GC wells have generally been
above 7.0 and are within expected limits, except for some high pH
values in 1976 and 1977 from well GC2.
Well GD1 had a significant increase in pH in 1984. Field pH
values are presently back to levels that are expected and that were
present for the first several years from this well. The recent
field pH values are thought to be more representative of the
aquifer water because well GD1 has been pumped consistently in the
last seven years. Field pH from well GD2 does not demonstrate a
trend. The upgradient mining in the QR seams has not significantly
affected the pH in this area of the aquifer. The pH values from
backfill well GD3 are slightly below neutral but near the values in
the native aquifer at well GD2. The undisturbed aquifer at GP1 has
values above neutral. Values from GE1 gradually declined for
several years and seem to have stabilized above 7. The pH of water
from well GE2 has varied from slightly less than 7 to
3-9
