Water levels for the GF Wells are tabulated in Tables A-4,
A-5, and A-6 of Appendix A. Plots of water level versus time are
presented for each well. GF1, GF2, GF3, and GF4 are located
downslope and downgradient of A and E pits, slightly greater than
1000" downgradient of the A pit. These wells are downgradient from
the A and E pits in native ground. The wells are completed in the
20 Mile, U, KLM, and HI aquifers, respectively. The GF1 and GF3
are flowing wells, The GF2 previously flowed until the casing was
extended in 1985. Water levels in the GF1 (Figure A-14) have
varied over a five foot range during the last year but overall are
stable to slightly decreasing. The GF2 (Figure A-15) is very
stable. The 20 Mile and U aquifers both lie beneath the coal
horizons. The changes in the GF1 and GF2 most likely represent
natural variations in recharge, The GF3 water level had been
fairly steady from 1988 through 1992, then exhibited a 16 ft.
downward spike, recovering to near the previous year's level in
October. The August, 1993, value may be due to a measurement
error. Well GF4 has been quite stable. Wells GF3 and GF4
demonstrate recovery and stabilization of the KLM and HI aquifers
at this site.
Well GF5 is completed in "HI" backfill and is located
approximately 2800' WSW of GF4. Figure A-18 shows a gradual
declining trend from recovery in 1988 to late 1992, when a slight
rise commenced, possibly in response to increased precipitation and
recharge. Well GF7 is 3300' east of GF5 and is also completed in
backfill. Figure A-20 shows an increase similar to GF5. Wells at
2-7
