Over 25 feet of alluvial clay underlain by sand and gravel <br />was observed in CTP-2 (a cut slope for a pond) near the center of the valley. <br />Colluvial Soils were found outside major drainages and consisted of stiff, dry to <br />slightly moist, sandy clays..,Typical index properties are shown in Table B below. <br />Strength test results are summarized on Fig. C-4. Alluvial soils consisted of borderline <br />clayey sand to very sandy clay soils. These were also stiff and dry to slightly moist. <br />SPoi1 <br />Bulk samples of excavated bedrock were obtained from road cuts and trenches <br />and tested to evaluate the anticipated spoil properties. These samples classify as <br />clayey gravel. The actual spoil is expected to contain an even higher percentage of <br />gravel and larger sized pieces. The strength testing required removal of +3I8 inch <br />particles, which were not replaced.
