The SEDCAD computer program was also utilized to calculate the sediment
flowing into and through the principal spillway using the DEPOSITS portion of the program.
The results show there was no sediment flowing out of the pond as a result of the 10-year,
24 -hour storm (1007. Basin Trap Efficiency).
The Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) was used to determine the sediment
loading to the pond to estimate sediment storage and frequency of cleanout.
Tons/AC/
Condition Area (ac.) The amount of estimated sediment storage is 5.8 ac-f[ or
3.6 years of sediment storage. The cleanout level is 60X of capacity. Therefore when the
sediment volume reaches 3.5 ac-ft, the pond will be cleaned out.
Particle Size Distributions. The particle size distribution for this sedimentation pond
was based on sieve and hydrometer analysis of various sail types in the Seneca II-4 permit
13-3-8 Revised 03/13/92
