Deni. of i!aiur;l @esources
Environment, Inc. submits this Technical Revision on behalf of
its client, Albert R. Frei.
This Technical Revision addresses problems that occurred during
startup of the Walstrum Mine. The Technical Revision involves
removal of land that is a buffer area in the operation and exchanging
it for land required for processing and storage areas. The total
area is 5.42 +/- acres at two locations. The Reclamation Plan
as outlined in the permit application will not be affected.
Revised Map Exhibit F, a copy of which is enclosed, shows the
location of the areas being changed. The acreage outlined in
yellow is the affected land after the Technical Revision is approved.
The acreage in Phase S outlined in green is the area to be deleted
from the permitted lands. Phases Pw and Pe, colored orange,
is the area to add be added to the permitted lands.
Phase Pe will be reclaimed as a commercial area. It is now being
backfilled to the level of the road. Its size will be 4.16 +/-
acres to be used primarily for sto~age of specification material
and may be a temporary plant site until an area on the mine floor
is available. Subsequently, it will be used for storage of large
stones used for landscaping and for soils used in reclamation
of the affected lands.
Phase Pw is an existing gas station, store, restaurant and housing
area. Part of this area has been backfilled to provide temporary
employee parking and to enlarge the level area that will be beneficial
to the commercial use. Some of the backfill will be overlain
with asphalt and will become acceleration/deceleration lanes
for the mine access road. Any fill or excavation of the creek
bed is done under permits already issued by the Corps of Engineers,
the State Highway Department and the Colorado Department of Bealth.
No'R;: /~/~P uTl~lz~-~ Qti 51N~ M~ /~-~~...- rn, Go~..~q-~ Pu6~,<c..,
4,6~-'V~ ~ N ~ of 9 I~t ~ ~ /1 rA LE~~ TO 1~2e-Se+~ ~ ATE © N, t "IZ'1+tS
c9G Tx~s K~~wc<
