- 69 -
1
The premining, postmining calculations for the permit area demonstrate that
mining activities will have no appreciable effect on the quantity of surface water
I ' runoff. Generally speaking, the reclained Sunlight Mine Area will have decreased
r infiltration rates and slightly higher runoff. This is due to a change in surface
` ' condition from old spoil piles with a very high infiltration rate to vegetated rangeland
r
rt The actual amount of the change is small because the disturbed area (approx.
IIII 5 acres) is not a significant portion of the permit area (180 acres).
1'
~' Water Quality
(t According to the USGS water quality samples taken 1973 through 1976, field
ff water quality analysis by J.F. Sato personnel, Table H.11 (April 27 and May 1,
~, 1481), and laboratory analysis of the April 27 sample, Table H. 12, Fourmile Creek
is very high quality water.
