E
~~ United Stater Sorl
~ b ~ Department of Conservation
Agriculture Service
1228 Main Street, Longmont, CO 80501
June 20, 1980
Mr. Richard L. Leffler, P. E.
' Western Technical Services, Inc.
1024 8th Street
Greeley, LO 80631
Dear Richard:
A review was made of the acreage you indicated you were in need of soils
and vegetative information. Practically all the acreage, as you can see
from the soils map, is classified as Aquolls and Aoents, and a copy of
the manuscript description is attached. This soil has an agricultural
' land use capability of class VI and certainly would not be considered
Prime or of unique importance. There is ample topsoil to revegetate
the area after the mining operation however.
The vegetation consists of both domestic tame plants and native veyetation.
Approximately 120 acres of [he parcel has been cultivated and used for
production of irrigated crops. Alt evidence of native species have
disappeared from this area.
The remaining acreage falls within the Salt Meadow range site. A copy
of this range site is attached. The area has been overgrazed in the past
so that most of the prjncipal species have disappeared and the present
composition is mostly annual weeds and fortis with an extrmated annual
production of 1500 pounds of air dry forage.
There are no known species of plants or animals on the endangered species
list.
Sincerely,
Carrol E, Hamon
0
r
