i WATER TREATMENT AND RECYCLE POND N0. 2
General Desion
Water Treatment and Recycle Pond No. 2 is a totally incised, zero
discharge pond designed to contain approximately 600,000 gallons of water
to be recycled from the preparation plant operation. The pond is a lined
excavation constructed as part of the water use system and will not remain
after final reclamation. It is lined with a synthetic hypalon liner which
extends beyond the pond's edges.
Pond No. 2 provides water for mining and processing activities. Water is
cycled from the preparation plant through Pond No. 2 where sediment
unloading takes place. The clean water returns to the plant. Water
volume for the preparation plant system is recharged by discharging water
from Freshwater Pond No. 3 into Pond No. 2. Sediment is periodically
removed from Pond No. 2 in order to maintain the design water level. The
area around the pond has been graded so that surface runoff drains away
from the pond.
The elevation of the design water level in Pond 2 provides for containment
of runoff from a 100-year, 24-hour event (0.29 ac-ft) with no discharge
while maintaining a minimum freeboard of one foot. The water level in
Pond 2 will be maintained at or below the design water level. All
hydrology inputs are shown on Table 5a, SEDCAD+ Version 3.0, Pond 2.
Refer to Table 5, Water Treatment and Recycle Pond No. 2 - Design Summary,
for design results. Water Treatment Pond No. 2's location is shown on the
Drainage and Sediment Control Map, (Map 20), and its design drawings,
storage capacity table and stage/storage curve are shown on the Water
Treatment and Recycle Pond No. 2 and Freshwater Pond No. 3 Designs Map,
(Map 22).
C~
20 R Revised - March 1992
