EXHIBIT B
MINING PLAN
This clay body is typical of most others in Pueblo County.
Topsoil is scarce to nonexistent. caprock covers the ore
body and is roughly the same thickness as the ore body - 10
to 15 feet. The previous operator was able to remove the
caprock with a backhoe and/or ripper, and the applicant will
continue this method for caprock removal. The clay body will
be extracted in the same manner, or by front end loader.
As indicated on the map, Exhibit C, a small area on the
southeast was mined by the previous operator. Mining will
proceed north and west from this face. The caprock
overburden will be stockpiled on the south and east perim-
eters for replacement in reclamation. There will be no pro-
cessing on site. The clay will be loaded on single axle
trucks for transport to the applicant's processing plant in
• Canon City.
Extraction of the oxe body will leave a level pit floor for
reclamation with a slight pitch to the south to effect
positive drainage. The south and east perimeters will day-
light to existing contours. The backsloping contemplated
will be on the north and west perimeters and will be at 3H:iV
or flatter. At some time in the future, depending on busi-
ness demand, it could become necessary to expand the permit
area to a 112 permit.
As provided in Rule 1 " General Provision 1.62", the appli-
cant hereby states "that the affected lands are to be used
for less than one hundred eighty days per year." This is
further dictated by the State Board of Land Commissioners,
Lease No. CY 3127 which states in part:
"Access to this lease will be restricted to the period from
November 1 through the following January 31 or a similar
three-month period to be mutually agreed upon by the State or
its mineral lessee and the officer of the Government having
jurisdiction over the premises."
