Cottony
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Minerals and Geology is currently reviewing the 110 application submitted by Rim Rock
for the above referenced site. The initial Decision Date of October'7th, 2005 was extended to November
10`h, 2005. A Preliminary Adequacy Review (PAR) has been done. However, after discussions with the
BLM's Lynn Lewis, Rim Rock Exploration and the Bureau appear to need additional time to address issues
of concern for them.
Division staff can begin the Financial Warranty calculations prior to some of BLM issues being addressed.
However, any changes required by the BLM may affect the financial warranty amount required one way or
another. If the Division moves forward and approves the permit prior to BLM finalization, changes may
have to be reflected in [he state approved permit The changes may require a Technical Revision with a
bond recalculation to the approved permit with appropriate fees, review etc. If the application is still in the
review process, any changes could be addressed with no additional fees or review process. By extending
the Decision Date, Rim Rock maybe saving itself additional money and time in the long run.
Staff cannot extend decision dates. The applicant must request an extension in writing that clearly states
the amount of time he/she feels is necessary to complete their work and allow Staff review. Should Rim
Rock agree that additional time to address these issues, it may request an extension in writing no later than
4:00 PM on 1 1 /10/O5. Staff can accept a faxed request with a hard copy sent by mail. Please advise
staff of Rim Rock's intentions as soon as possible.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand
Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St, Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone no.
970.241.1 117.
Sincerely,
~ %~ ~/
G.
