Rationale for Approval Recon- ndation • May 8, 2001
Four States Aggregates, LLC•
The Act and Rules address utilization and conservation of the state's natural resources
but do not appear to address non-utilization or preservation of the state's natural
resources.
41. We urge you ro consider this application in light of our concerns.
The Act and Rules provide opportunity for public participation throughout the permitting
process. The Board and DMG will review all comments, submitted in accordance with the
Act and Rules, in its review process.
42. Reclamation success at Mountain Grave%s Twin Spruce Pit, located
approximate/y 7 mi/e north of the proposed Line Camp Pit, should be used as a
model and standard for al/ future grave/ pits in the Dolores River valley.
Thank you for your comment. DMG has released the Twin Spruce Pit permit for
successful completion of reclamation in accordance with the conditions of the approved
reclamation plan and the Act and Rules.
43. The reclaimed pit constitutes an attractive nuisance and shou/d be fenced to
discourage trespass.
The application does not indicate that a fence will be necessary.
44. The permitting agent works for the applicant.
This is correct, the permitting agent has been retained by the applicant.
Attachment: Geochemical Investigation Report, Proposed Line Camp Open Pit
Alluvial Gravel Mine, Montezuma County, Dolores, Colorado, DMG
staff report;
Analysis of Potential Off-Site Impacts from Pit Dewatering and River
Flooding at the Proposed Line Camp Pit, Four States Aggregates, LLC,
File No. M-2001-001, DMG staff report; and
Certificate of Mailing.
13
