Vegetation and Soils* <br />Vegetation* <br />The High Flume Gravel Pit area is classed by the United <br />States Department of Agriculture - Soil Conservation Service <br />as woodland. It is proposed therefore that the area will be <br />reseeded and planted with the following vegetation, charac- <br />teristic of Zyme-rock outcrop soils on woodland sites: <br />Plant ~ composition <br />Indian ricegrass 15 understory <br />Basin big sagebrush 15 " <br />Western wheatgrass 10 " <br />• True mountain mahogany 10 ;; <br />Gamble oak 10 <br />Needle and thread 5 <br />Serviceberry 5 " <br />Antelope bitterbrush 5 " <br />Muttongrass 5 " <br />Pinyon common tree <br />Rock Mountain juniper common tree <br />Soils* <br />The soil unit within the High Flume Gravel pit, as mapped <br />by the Soil Conservation Service, is the Zyme Series - shallow, <br />well drained, clayey, montmorillonitic (calcerous) soils derived <br />from shales. 7'he soil cover varies from 18" to 20" and directly <br />C~ <br />
