RECEIVED <br />MAR 2.3 2001 <br />EXHIBIT A -Legal Description Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety <br />(1) The Byzantine Quarries 112 Operation affected land will be located in the southwest <br />'/< of Section 6 and the northwest'/< of Section 7 Township 18 South, Range 70 West; and <br />in the southeast '/, of Section 1 and the northeast '/, of Section 12 Township 18 South, <br />Range 71 West, 6~' Principle Meridian. This affected land for this 112 operation will <br />include the Byzantine Quarries 110 Pit 1: DRMS Permit M2006-020. <br />The corner where the above referenced sections meet is depicted approximately by UTM <br />Zone 13 NAD 83 Datum as: <br />476064E <br />4261622N <br />Please see Exhibit B for a map of the Byzantine Quarries 112 Operation affected land. <br />(2) The main entrance to the affected land from Fremont County Road (FCR) 69 is <br />depicted approximately by UTM Zone 13 NAD 83 Datum as: <br />477388E <br />4262668N <br />Please see Exhibit B for a map of main entrance to the affected land from FCR 69. <br />Fremont County Road 69 is accessed north from US Hwy 50 just west of Canon City. <br />The main entrance to the mine is a left (west) turn from Fremont County Road 69, <br />approximately 2 miles north of US Hwy 50. The mine is located on private land owned <br />by the applicant, and public access is restricted by locked gates. <br />
