RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT E
1. GENERAL RECLAMATION PLAN
The reclamation plan will create lakes with wetland fringes for wildlife habitat and land peninsulas
that will be built from excess overburden that will be planned for industrial/commercial use. Four
lakes will be created that will be interconnected through a series of culverts.. All lakes will vary in
size from 20 to 25 acres in size and have 3H:1 V sideslopes. Wetlands will be developed along the
water surface. Exhibit F shows the final configuration of the site. See Map C-3 shows cross sections
of the site for current, mining and reclamation topography.
As discussed in the mine plan, the site is divided into 5 mining areas or phases. As each area is being
mined, reclamation will occur on the previous phase as well as part of the current phase. This in-
volves backfilling and grading of the slopes from 2H:1V to the permanent slopes of 3H:1V as well
as the creation of the land peninsulas. In this way, the reclamation of previously mined areas will be
done on an ongoing basis. The stockpiled overburden will be hauled from its storage area located
adjacent to the extraction area by mobile equipment and placed where required to achieve a level
topography on the pad areas and properly backfilled slopes. Grading will be done by dozers and
other equipment which will compact and stabilize the overburden in their final configuration. Selec-
tive handling or placement of overburden materials will not be necessary.
Any ramps into and out of the pits will be left so that water filling will create shallow areas for
wetlands.
15 Road Pi[ 10/02 24
