~ CYPE;t1S
• Empire Corporation
March 1, 1995
Ms. R. O'Reilly
Engineering Department
Southern Pacific Lines
1515 Arapahoe
Denver, CO 80217
Dear Ms. O'Reilly;
P.O. Box 88
Craig, Colorado 81626
303-824-8246
The following notification is being sent to your attention
following my conversation with Mr. Olsen of your Phippsburgh
facility. ,
Enclosed is an updated map showing the current and planned
undermining of property overlying the CEC mining area, a portion of
which is crossed by your rail-line. It should be noted that the
rate of mining, and thus the timing of when mining will occur, will
;change from time to time. CEC does not anticipate that any material
damage would result that might cause a diminution of reasonably
foreseeable use, especially as the mine workings projected beneath
the railway are main entries. Main entries are designed to fully
support the overlying surface, and will not result in subsidence
effects under normal circumstances. As such, there are no impacts
to the railway anticipated. CEC will be installing subsidence
monitoring points adjacent to the railway and the river to verify
the lack of subsidence during development.
Should you have any questions or comments, please contact me at
your convenience.
Sincerely,
Marcus A. Middleton
Environmental Engineer
• cc: Dennis Olsen, SPL- Phippsburgh Yard
