A-~, <br />Non-Technical Descriptions <br />Soil Survey 658 CHAFFEE-LAKE AREA, COLORADO, PARTS <br />OF CHAFFEE AND LAKE COUNTIES <br />Map DOD Dominson gravelly sandy loam, 1 to 9 percent slopes <br />Description SOI <br />Dominson soil is very deep and somewhat excessively drained. It formed in alluvium <br />arq glacal oulwash. Typically, the surface layer is mainly dark brown gravelly sandy <br />bam 11 inches thick. The substratum is cobbles, sand, and gavel to a depth of 80 in <br />ches or more. The soil is neutrl to a depdt of 3 indtes and mildy alkaline below that <br />depts. Pemr~biliry is very rapid, and availabe wabr capacity is low. Surface runoff <br />is sbw to rapid, and hazard of erosion of unprotected soil by rater is slight <br />b high. <br />Map DOF Dominson gravelly sandy loam, 9 to 45 percent slopes <br />Description SOI <br />Dominson soil is vary dam and somewhat excessively drained. It formed in ehuvium <br />and glacal oulwash. Typicalry, the surface is mainly dark brown gravely sandy loam <br />11 indres thick. The subtralum is cobbles, sand, and gavel to a depth of 80 inches o <br />r more. The sos is neutral to a depth of 3'uxites and mildly alkaline below that depth. <br />Pemteadliry is very rapid, and available water capaary is low. Surface runoff is rapid <br />to very rapid, and hasard of eroson of unpmtected soil by water is high t <br />o very high. <br />Map SSC San Isabel stony sandy loam, 1 to 5 percent slopes <br />Description SOI <br />San Isabel sal is very deep and somewhat excessively drained. It formed in glacial <br />oulwash and alluvium. Typically, the surface layer is brown grvelly sandy loam 5 <br />inches thick. The subsoil is brown gravely sandy bam 14 indtes thick The <br />is gavel, cobbles, boultleB and stones to a depth of 60 inches or more. The soil is <br />neutral.
