The limestone quarry operation is to be located east of Lyons, with
a projected quarry life of 25 yeazs. The section of the application that dealt with water was vague
as to.whether groundwater would be exposed during mitring. However, in the reclamation section,
groundwater was predicted in the lower portions of the excavation.
Since' groundwater .will be exposed and this azea is tnbutary to the South Platte River, which is
overapproptiated, acourt approved plan for augmentation, or a substitute water supply plan
approved by this office will be required.
Until either of the above documents can be secured, this office can not recommend approval of the
application. Please contact taus office should you have any questions.
cc: Alan Berryman, Division Engineer
Bill Gambrell, Water Commissioner
Rich Bell
wcm:dowe.wcm
