•
•
Plat Note Re4uirements
Adams County is now requiring a restriction on all gravel extra-
tion operations in order to provide for a procedure to be follow-
~ ed in the event a claim is made that an adjacent well is damaged
by.a mining operation. Since this is now a standard requirement
the applicant will comply and has provided such a statement.
However, the applicant feels this operation will cause no ad-
~ verse effects to shallow wells since no dewatering is taking
place. Plus, since four mining operations will be located ad~a-
cent to one another, ib may be extremely hard to pinpoint cause
and effect in the event some effect was encountered.
~ Water Resources for Afteruse
The proposed afteruse is 13 homesites, 1 commercial lot, and a
large common lot consisting of the lake and shoreline. The
homesites and commercial lot will require water for inhouse use
•
and irrigated lawn: This water will be provided via a communi-
ty water system dependent on deep aquifers. The necessary well
permits have been applied for, and the accompanying water re-
port illustrates these aquifers have sufficient water to supply
•
the subdivision in conformance with state law. In addition, as
required by MLRB policies and state law, prior to homesite con-
struction (and even after for nonirrigated areas), water will
be necessary to establish growth and occasionally keep vegeta-
~ tion from d in duain drou ht
y g g g periods. Water for this pur-
pose will be supplied €rom shallow well water. rights.
~ Drainage
The attached drainage report discusses historic and future run-
off conditions with relevant calculations. Presently there is
little exterior surface drainage entering the project site due
~ to US 85 and irrigation ditches which traverse the area. In
addition, since the soils are very porous, often water falling
on the property and from adjacent land percolates into the
ground without leaving the property. What water does exit the
~ property, does so across Nome Street, 450 feet south of the in-
tersection of 132nd and Nome Street.
During and after excavation all runoff entering the excavated
areas will be retained in the lake and returned to ground water
~ recharge. The present drainage pattern will remain uncharged in
unexcavated areas adjacent to Nome Street and 132nd. Therefore,
the front yard of each homesite will drain in a historical man-
• ner, but since this small amount of area is substantially less
than exists historically, drainage onto adjacent property will
decrease.
•
