<br /> <br />July 12, 2002 <br />Subject: Construction Quality Assurance Plan <br />Brighton Water Storage Project . <br />Adams County, Colorado <br />Job No. 02-0065 <br />' Mr. Les.Ewegen <br />Les Ewegen, LLC - <br />37615 Weld County Road 39 <br />Eaton, Colorado 80615 <br />Dear Mr: Ewegen: - ' <br />At your request, Ground Engineering Consultants, Inc., (GROUND) has prepazed a Construction , <br />Quality Assurance plan for placement of [he clay liner for the Brighton Water Storage Project <br />near southeast of the intersection of 124'" Avenue and U.S; Highway 85, in Brighton, Colorado. - , <br />We understand that construction of the liner will involve excavation, of on the order of 100,000 <br />cubic yards of claystone from the site and placement of the material as compacted fill. <br />GROUND recommends that the Geotechnical Engineer provide quality assurance materials <br />testing for the linerembankment fill, In addition, earthwork should be observed and monitored <br />for general compliance with the plans and specifications as they relate to construction materials. <br />The Geotechnical Engineer should review project plans and specifications, and provide <br />appropriate sampling and materials testing to assess compliance with those plans and <br />specifications. <br />GROUND recommends the following testing and reporting schedule for quality assurance during <br />placement of the liner to be performed by the Geotechnical Engineer: <br />• Maximum Dry Density /Optimum Moisture Content Tests 1 test per 5,000 yd' & <br />(ASTM D698, the "Standard Proctor") 1 per distinct soil type <br />ROUIIID <br />ENGINEERING C O N S U L T R N T S <br />\' <br />- 41 Inverness Drive East, Englewood, CO 80112-5412 <br />North Office: 7393 Dahlia 5[reet, Commerce City, CO 80022-1834 <br />phone (303) 289-1989 Fax (303) 289-1686 <br />www.groundeng.com ~ - <br />
