File ~k M-91-035
Dear Mr. Y.umphries:
Thanks for requesting Division of Wildlife input on this proposal. Y?e
have reviewed the application and have the following comments:
- If the reclamation plan is successful, this project should not
have a significant negative impact on wildlife in the area.
- With regard to the proposed seed mixture for reclamation (Exhibit E),
we suggest increasing the percentage of shrubs in the mix, with more
sagebrush and perhaps even other shrubs. Shrubs in a community
serve to provide food and cover from strong winds for a variety of
wildlife.
- Use of the reclaimed pit by hunting raptors would be increased if
one or two tall raptor perch poles were installed at the top
perimeter of the pit.
Please contact myself or District Wildlife Manager Tom Howard (291-7227)
if you have any questions.
Sincerel/y',~
Dave Weber
Habitat Biologist
cc: Tom Howard, DWM
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, Hamlet J.
