positive and negative ions dissolved in the water. The
water at all but S-6 and S-8 is a mixed sulfate type, and •
that of S-6 and S-8 is a sodium-magnesium-sulfate type.
(This difference is explained in Section 1.3.2.)
The nutrient levels found in the samples are not unusual for
this area. Chromium, zinc, and molybdenum levels were all
below detection limits; only iron and manganese were in
unusually high concentrations,
For the criteria listed on Tahle 6 manganese concentrations
exceed the NAS recommended drinking water concentrations for
every sample except from S-2 and S-8, and iron is above the '
NAS recommended drinking water standards for samples from S-1
and S-6. The SAR and conductivity values for samples from
Stations S-6 and S-8 indicated that the water has a very high
sodium and salinity hazard index for use as irrigation water.
